Where did it all go?

£20 Staffie Rescue (rescue Remedies)
Support for wasted phone calls from ex-member of Staffiezone, trying to secure an emergency placement for an unwanted Staffie, weeks of work by the rescue with an uncooperative owner. The dog was eventually placed with relatives.

£100 K999 (Adam) sent to North Clwyd Animal Rescue as his named cause
I know we all appreciate what Adam has been doing for us over the last couple of months responding to behaviour issues so it seemed fitting that we contributed in some way towards his valued advice.

I can't thank you and Staffiezone enough for your fantastic donation to
North Clwyd Animal Rescue.
We always run on the bread line so boosts like this make a big difference,
not only for the dogs but also staff moral. Being a no rejection/no put-to-sleep
policy rescue is can be hard seeing some dogs be overlooked for years as we
simply haven't the time or personnel to address all the problems these dogs show.

£100 Cleo Stafford Welfare
Cleo is a 3 year old female we homed two years ago. Her home has been a success but she now needs an operation on her leg for a luxating patella with complications in her hip. She was not insured and so we are asking for donations towards her operation. The operation is booked for 9.30am on 7th March with Anderson and Abercromby Refferrals who have given us 10% discount. Staffordshire Bull Terrier Welfare and her owner are contributing to the cost.

Thank you so much Staffiezone for your generous donation towards Cleo's operation, what a wonderful encouraging start!

£100 Scottish Staffie Rescue where Dizzy (fostered by Claire) came from. Claire is impressed with the rescue back-up that she has received and we have all been following the story so you will know that she has now had him back a couple of times after his new owners returned him - thank goodness for people like Claire and the rescue for persevering. I hope you will think this is a well deserved donation to the rescue concerned.

£100 DDA Watch
Most of you will be aware of the work that this organisation does on behalf of owners caught up in the turmoil of the Dangerous Dog Act and will have seen the plight of one of our own members and the ongoing saga of her dogs. Let’s hope that nobody is going to need this organisation, but they were considered worthy of a donation from us.

Wow!!!

Thank you guys SOOO much for your fantastic donation! I was amazed when I opened the mail! Please please thank your members for us. DDA Watch is run by a very small number of volunteers but without the support of people like yourselves DDA Watch simply would not exist. Thank you for being a part of our team !

Please do keep sharing our work and we hope you never need our services!!

Allie Green

£220 Oldies Club

Our ongoing support for this wonderful charity organisation

On behalf of Oldies Club I would like to say a big thank you to Staffie Zone for the generous donation received today. This money will allow us to bring another dog into rescue and cover their medical bills until they are rehomed.
ta

£100 Barbara Green (North West) Part of Stafford Welfare Charity
This lady works very hard securing homes for Stafford’s in her area and is known to Jo (Staffylover) and always has a positive response to her work.

How nice of you to think of my rescue. Thank you so much for the £100.00 cheque, which really is very much appreciated.

£200 Staffie Rescue (Sharon & Lynne)
Most of you will see the posts for dogs needing homes which Sharon puts on time and time again, working very hard to secure places for Staffordshire Bull Terriers and crosses and a deserving cause for us to donate to.

Our staffies thank you all from the bottom of their very very big heart!
xxlynne

Just wanted to drop you a line to say how very grateful we are to be included in our annual donation round. Chuffed to bits to be honest and so glad we are a part of Staffiezone and amongst friends.

Appreciate your support.

Best wishes
Sharon

£100 for our very own Staffiezone Furbaby Suki
This time last week Suki was at the vets facing a life saving operation after being diagnosed with Pyometra, this was so out of the blue and thankfully the quick reactions of owner Dee (Angel) saved Suki. Happy to report that Suki is now fully recovered and enjoying herself again with loads of cuddles from the rabbits. This gentle giant of a lady truly deserves our support with the emergency vet fees that the family now have to face.

It is then intended to send £300 to Guildford Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue as part of our ongoing support to Stafford Welfare charity. Alison works tirelessly day in and day out looking after the dogs and rehoming them giving up valuable family time for her commitment to them. Alison also helps Staffiezone, with some of the fund raising events and recently took us to Discover Dogs in London. As far as rescue back-up goes her ongoing support is second to none having just taken in Cleo from her adopted owners for care and support during her operation, once she is fully recovered she will be returned to her owners. I am sure you will all agree that is exceptional back-up to offer with very little resources.

It is also then decided to retain the balance of £97.68 for future emergencies and carry this forward into 2011/2012.

It's nice to see where the money went but I would like to say I don't like the idea of us paying the vet bills of other members.

I don't know the Ins and outs of the situation as I have not been online due to my house move however I think its just a can of worms to open and I think the money could be spent on dogs that are homeless, unexpected vet expenses can be avoided with insurance and so can pyometra with neutering.

I wouldn't see any dog go without treatment but maybe a loan rather than a donation would have been more suitable for this situation because in the money could go elsewhere in the end.

This post has been here since April and donations are discussed in the Team Member part of the forum. We did not receive any complaints to date.

I am sorry you feel the way you do about the donation made to another member of the forum, but we also did the same for a member last year who was not a Team member.

We do indicate that we raise funds for Staffordshire Bull Terriers and Others in Need. We try to distribute funds to registered charities only, but certainly are very careful who we pass donations on to.

We do not ask for money to run this forum and we do not use any of the money raised for that purpose or the website or the many items that we buy ourselves and contribute to the forum as prizes, such as the rosettes and £10 vouchers every month.

Sorry I didn't realise it was an old post.
Thats fair enough, its your forum and you can decide how the money is split, I'm not comfortable with money I have donated being spent on a members vet bills, especially when, in my opinion, it wouldn't have happened with responsible ownership, i.e neutering and insurance. I recognise shit happens and sometimes mistakes are made and in cases like this I wouldn't be against loaning people the funds however I think ultimately it should always end up back with rescues and shelters and I will donate to them directly in future as I would prefer to see the money I donate spent on saving lives and rehoming staffordshire bull terriers that are without owners. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on our views of what determines charity or good cause.
