PostSubject: Kamikaze fish   Mon 03 Oct 2011, 6:35 pm

Our fish seem to be on a mission to kill themselves.

We have an open top tank and have lost 3 fish in the last week who have decided to jump out of the tank overnight!

One did jump out whilst we were still up, we found it on the carpet and have no idea how long it has been out but it did survive after we sat it in the net for half an hour.

Anyone else had this problem?

We have white and gold mountain minnows

Don't keep fish or know anything about them but maybe you need a lid or a net on the aquarium? I feed my friends fish when they go away and they have lids on their tanks ?

Definitely a lid of some sort, or some netting over the top.

They will keep jumping out otherwise.

I would drop the water level myself. Just a few inches would probably do the trick.

Nice tank though spinner smile

My sister has a marine tank built into the wall on the landing so you see it as you walk upstairs.
It is a stunning tank but she did have a leak recently which caused a lot of damage to the house and the corals.

I would love marine but don't have the money or time to dedicate to them
