PostSubject: Found a young stray   Sat 28 Jul 2012, 5:59 pm

We found a young (about 8 months old) staffy cross today on our estate. My sister walked him around for a couple of hours but no one recognised him and he was not wearing a collar.

We rang the dog warden but they said it would be 4 hours so we agreed to take him to our local vets and have him collected from there.

He was a skinny little thing and was not wearing a collar and sadly was not chipped either.

Ian wanted to try him with Reuben but I had to say as heartbreaking as it was taking him to the vets

He will now be taken to Mcr Dogs home, I really hope he finds a lovely home

I hope so too. Ian woke me up at 2am this morning to say he had been thinking about him and he thinks we should give him a home.

I def dont want two males or another dog and as hard as it is I had to say no. I also think he will be a pretty big dog as he was already as tall as Reuben if not taller and still had a bit of growing and a lot of filling out to come

He doesn't even think about that Martin, or the fact that they would have to be kept separated all day
Two males for me has always been a big no no, if I was going to have two males I would have taken Dandy on from the shelter months ago.

Its just me and my boy now!

You know it's strange that Ian and Glynn are the same, happy to love Ruby and Elsdon but it's me that pounds the streets to walk them and Glynn that is so proud if Elsdon and Ruby are complimented as well behaved dogs.

I had a woman ask me at the weekend if they were friendly, I just thought well if they weren't they would have had your dog by now? She had actually left her dog in their caravan alone the night before, it barked until they came home. Don't understand some people? I don't go anywhere I can't take Elsdon and Ruby.

His owners came forward and apparently someone was looking after the dog for the day and let him out (but never bothered to go and look for him)

She has now got to pay £85 for him to collect from the Dogs home. Hopefully this will now encourage her to get him chipped and maybe wear a collar with ID.
Had he been chipped I could have taken him home to her last week as that was the first thing I asked the vets to check when I took him there

Glad it's a happy ending!

Hmm must be a man thing - I do all the walking, feeding, grooming, training etc!

Yep same here Kirsty, it was also hubbys idea to get the fish which he will look after, I dont think he has ever fed them never mind clean them!

I dread to think what would happen if I was not here for a week
