Do you think? Sometimes I think they do. I know grudges are a human thing + dogs aren't human, but Tilly in particular will bark + bounce around if she sees a dog that's had a bark at her, if it's safely behind a fence or gate lol

What do you think?

I dont think they hold grudges as such, but I do think they remember things that have happened in the past, Cassie was attacked by a lab when she was a puppy, she never forgot the place that this happened and even as a full grown adult would be bery fearful when passing the house where this happened, with advice from Adam I have been able to overcome this with her, so proving that you can heal the memory that they had of an incident, I was told that a dog never forgets your scent and will always remember you if the dog meets you again and of course anthing associated with you ? interesting post.

I think they probably remember more and maybe associate things with memories rather than hold a grudge.
Reuben knows which house a little shitzu lives at as it is always in the garden and kicks off. Now he pulls to this garden with his tail erect as we walk past regardless of whether the dog is out or not

I don't think they hold grudges as such but think they do remember where things happen, good and bad.

They definitely remember scent and acknowledge what that reminds them of.

Dell remembers everything
a dog had a go at him when he was a small puppy and he hates it.
any dog thats had a go at him he's very wary of.
and will never turn his back on them.

Ruby seems ok and doesn't bother but Elsdon knows exactly where the Boxer down the street lives who barks at us and looks at the gate every time we pass, whether or not the dog is out or not too.

if a dogs had a real go at Alfie he seems to always remember where it's happened & always spots the that did it , infact I'd go as far as he puffs himself up ready just incase the come at him again , I'm not sure if it's a grudge thing or just a memory thing
