PostSubject: Walking in the rain   Wed 26 Sep 2012, 9:51 pm

Given that it has not stopped raining or 3 days solid how is everyone managing with walks, or not as the case may be?

Reuben hates the rain and given he refuses to go out in the garden to pee when it is raining he has had to go on walks, however they have only been short walks. I put his coat on last night but he was not impressed so he went commando tonight which was even worse and he stood rooted to the spot refusing to walk so he was literally pulled around on his walk and then as soon as he knew we were heading home he started to pull terribly on the lead.

Hope it stops for weekend so we can get a good run out

Mine are fine in the rain, Ruby's not keen on walking on lead but as soon as she's off she has a blast.....I walk in the woods though so we're a bit sheltered.

Going to have a wee in the garden is sometimes a problem though.

Reggie wont go out in the rain if he can help, the other evening it took him 3 attempts to get to the grass on the garden to pee. Each time he got a little bit further but would turn round and come running back in! He wont wear a coat, he just sticks to the floor and looks at me as if to say 'if you think i'm going out in this you can think again!'

Although my boys hate the rain - they have had walkies in it (lol) however I haven't been that mean as our 1 hour walks had been reduced to 30-40mins - as we are all soaked to the skin when we get home.

On the way home though the do literally try and run home

Poppy will not go out in the rain at all, if she goes out to the loo its at lightning speed then back in but faster.
If we get caught in the rain then is tail between her legs, head & ears down, back on lead & once she knows we are on the way home starts to pull.
As soon as we are home she is dried down & brushed but then I get the look of I hate you for that for a few hours

Cody hates the rain. He will run outside for a wee and then i have to drag him round the block on the lead so he can have a proper walk.

Daisy doesn't mind it at all and will walk as normal. She likes to wee in every big puddle we pass huh

the other don't mind it, Buster won't walk, and if i manage to get him to the front gate, he start pulling backwards towards the house! if i get him to go down the street, it's just alot of hoo-harr over it and he'll just lie down in the street and refuse to get up.

Talking about rain. Well the other night, I took bubbles out for a walk. I wanted to do a long walk. But that never happened. As we went around the corner, it started to rain. But only spitty rain. Then the heavens open. And poor bubble just stood still and looked up to me. I said what do you want me to do about it. It's not like I can stop the rain. He hated it. I got soaked as I didn't have my rain jacket on, but I didn't mind this as I was already wet through by the rain.

I hate it when you get struck by a sudden downpoar, last time I got hit by one I did not even have a jacket on, I looked like a drowned rat when I got home
