Well then we were back at the vets again last night , he still has the bigger scratch on his eye so the vets changed his drops & 3 times a day for the next 2 weeks , he mentioned surgery again but I made it clear I wasn't keen on that idea

Hopefully the cream will sort it once and for all

What sort of surgery are they planning? I would be inclined to go to a specialist if there was anything wrong with the eye, Woodcroft in Stockport are excellent. They are very expensive but they have a vet who is a specialist in eyes and I think it would be worth asking for a referral before they go for surgery

Fingers crossed the cream does the trick and he is OK in a couple of weeks

Alfie's eye problem continues. Sonya took him back to the vets tonight as when she came home his eye was shut again.

The vet put some more dye in his eye and the problem has got worse. She saw a different vet and apparantly the ulcer is getting larger again and this is due to the surface of the eye being uneven so there is not a good flat base for the eye to repair itself. He has been given some more drops so now he is having Fucithalmic Vet Ointment 4 times a day and one hour later twice a day we have to put in a drop of eyesoothe which will put a protective coating over the eye.

He is back again on Wednesday and the vet has said that if it is no better then they will have to perform surgery. This will entail removing the damaged layer of the eye to give the eye a flat and even surface to repair iteself. The surgery itself will make the eye worse but give a better base for it to repair properly.

At this point I am still not happy about going down the surgery route but that's 2 vets telling me the same thing so fingers crossed the cream and drops do the job before Wednesday.
