PostSubject: Alfie needs an Op   Wed 08 May 2013, 11:09 pm

Hi All,

Sadly took Alfie back to the vets today for a check up on his eye this was his 5th visit in the last 3 weeks and we were given the bad news that Alfie needs to go in tomorrow at 8.30 to have surgery on his eye crying

We have tried to give it time to heal using various eye drops and antibiotics but the vet had said it is not healing quick enough on it's own and that he will be in pain and uncomfortable so the best course of treatment is the surgery.

They are going to try sedating him first to carry out the procedure but if his moves about he will have to go under anaesthetic.
Got to say really worried about him. He will be allowed home tomorrow evening thankfully but what a long day it's going to be.

Here's a couple of pictures of his eye with the dye in it so you can see the problem he is having. It's his left eye or the right as you are looking at it on the picture and it's constantly weeping and flickering so needs to be sorted.

The second picture is of him sat on the patio table tonight shivering because he was cold but he would not come in the garage with me as he was too busy being nosey as to what was happening over the wall, check out the homemade designer Logan coat made out of the finest car cloth and peg. ha ha

Hi all,

Sorry it took so long to post been a busy night.

Sonya here. Alfie is back home and feeling sorry for himself with his buster collar. Luckily they only had to heavily sedate him and put local anaesthetic drops in the eye.

They said it all went well, the procedure I can only describe as if you imagine playing noughts and crosses but use 5 lines across and 5 lines down instead of 2 this is what they did to his eye they score the top layer with a needle which will make the eye worse but will promote the healing process quicker.

Anyways he's home now with fake tear drops and antibiotic drops which need to be applied 4 times a day. He has to go back on Sunday at 2.30 for a check up so will keep you all updated but fingers crossed he will start to recover soon. You can't actually see what they have done to his eye which is a bonus.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts Martin was dreading it but hopefully he is over the worst now Alfie that is not Martin.

Bet Alfie still doesn't learn his lesson and will still insist on sticking his head in bushes.
