PostSubject: Den + His SA   Sat 18 May 2013, 6:39 pm

Den has major SA + we've been working very hard to cure it. I know now a crate isn't an option, whatever happened before has scuppered that. If I put him in a crate he seriously freaks out + literally kakks himself. So I bought a doggie gate + touch wood he's much better.

He comes on our walk in the mornings now, I decided that rather than take the others then come back for Den I'd just cut the others' walk short for a few weeks. He's much happier now and in a couple of months we can go back to the usual walk

I leave Tuggs in his crate in our big room + Boris + Tilly in there free. There's a doggie gate across that door to the hall + Den has a ickle bed in the hall

When I went to work yesterday morning I shut the front door + just waited in the porch, not a little peep out of him

And that's without the zylkene I bought to try

I soooo can't tell you how happy that makes me

He's come such a long way Den, he still has issues + still not house trained but we're getting there

Thanks for listening to me waffle lol

Awww SA is one of the most distressing things for you and the dog, I know been there done that.

I am so glad you have found something that works for him, it is all trial and error and sometimes, even what you have found to work may freak them sometimes.

I found my SA dog was not freaked out about being left or being left alone but actually being confined in a smaller space, such as a crate or a room with the door shut. As soon as I worked out that as soon as he could see and hear what was going on behind the door he was fine and the stairgate approach worked for me as well.

Well done on doing what you have done and hopefully it will all work out xx

Progress sounds really positive so far, well done

Chloe used to howl all day when left but all that stopped when we started to leave her in the bedroom or n the landing, again it was a smaller area
