PostSubject: Hi from Indonesia   Sat 01 Feb 2014, 8:47 am

My name is Diane and my family and I got our first stafford just over a week ago.  We've owned Rottweilers and Dogo Argentino's for over 25 years and after our last young dogo passed away suddenly in November we decided that it was time to move on and get a different breed. We will be moving back to Europe later this year and we decided that we needed a much smaller breed to make it easier with travelling though out the EU during school vacations. The stafford was the perfect choice as they the amazing personalities and devotion that we were used to with our previous breeds, especially the dogo which our 10 year old daughter has been raised with since she was born.

When we decided to get another dog, we really wanted to get a rescue but because papers would be necessary with our travelling we thought we would have to get a pup through a breeder.  Staffords are extremely rare here in Indonesia and there are only a handful of breeders and they rarely breed so we were prepared to have a long wait.  A friend here knew someone who was selling their 13 month old pup who was supposed to be trained up as a sniffer dog but he didn't turn out to be suitable.  Poor boy had spent his whole life in a K9 Security training kennel and the owner realised that he also needed to be in a family situation.
While I can't say that he was abused like some dogs are, living in that environment without a family and only kennel boys who were responsible for his well-being and exercise along with 100s of rottweilers, we feel we rescued our boy and have given him the loving home he deserves.   We are so happy with our boy Marquez and totally in love with the breed :)

Marquez coming home.

Thanks for the welcome guys. We're all totally in love with our boy and the feelings obviously mutual because he's forever giving kisses and wanting to sit on us for cuddles. Today marks 2 weeks he's been home with us and it really feels like he's been with us forever.
He's training is coming along really well as he's had to learn everything again in english as his previous handlers all spoke indonesian :p
