I stripped one of my tanks at weekend and replaced the gravel and rearranged the stones and added a few plants.

Nice!

I need to get some gravel like yours, the stones I have aren't deep enough so the grass doesn't stay in properly and ends up floating on the top of the water lol.

Going to get a bigger tank soon so i'll get some new bits and bobs too

What size are you thinking of getting. Just be careful with gravel, the one I have bought is very small particles which if not stirred regularly can cause gas build ups and kill your fish. I have added a load of Malaysian trumpet snails to keep it turned over but they do become a pest so when they do my assassin snails get put in

I've got my new tank :) I got a 28 litre and the fish are in.

How many more fish do you think I can get? And what type do you recommend.

I got some new white gravel. I don't think it's as small as the type you have in the pic.

Have you used the filer from the old tank or the media from in it in your new filter? If not you will need to wait a while for your tank to build up,some Bactria before up add any more fish

In my 30l tanks I tend to have one male betta and a small shoal of rasboras  spinner smile spinner smile

Yeah I used one sponge from the old filter and one new one.
Same water but topped up with new treated water.

I set it up Tuesday so was gonna wait until Saturday to get more fish
Are rasboras suitable for mine being temperate?

Ah right no they are tropical. What do you have at the moment, is it platties? If you wanted to go tropical it will cost you about a tenner for a heater and your temperate fish could adapt to that

I have 1 platy and 2 danios.
I wouldn't mind getting more of the same.
I can't have a heater as I don't gave enough plug sockets where the tank is and it currently runs off a extension lead.

This is what pets at home recommend for my 24 litre tank

Seems too many to me.

I like the look of the White Cloud Mountain minnows, but 8, really!

I think I'm going to add some more platys and danio as I like them and maybe minnows.

The numbers seems a bit high to me too. Minnows don't get too big and are nice little fish. Danios really need to be in a shoal and I don't think the tank would be big enough for a shoal of danios as they are very active and prefer a large space

There is a guide of 4litres per inch of fish but I'm not sure how accurate that is

Yeah the two danios I have are very active and like to chase each other.

So platys and minnows it is then. I wanted a colourful fish so platys seem to be a better option then and I'll steer away from danios.

Have you seen this craze of one goldfish in a lovely big bowl with coloured gravel.

Think it started on The Only Way is Essex. I know there has been an outcry that it is cruel as there is no filter others say it is fine as long as it is cleaned out regularly.

What do you think?

Without a filter I would suggest a water change every day, not nice living in your own poop
