it's a tough one. I would probably be for amputation simply because their life can be good and they cope very well.

Prognosis is not that good without it and would you always be thinking what if - I know what you are like and now you have thought about it etc

Keep us updated hun xxx

The vets said it will take the pain away as this leg is quite badly deformed with the growth. I'm waiting for the vets to call me back, I rang them this morning to discuss in more detail but they have not rung back so I'll chase them tomorrow

That's a really tough call hun, I think I'd wait for the vet to speak with you. Is the growth located to just that area

No, that is the problem area, you can see he has slight deformity around the ankles but it is only very slight at the moment

Boris is back at the vets in the morning, I think it's time to let him go. The cancer appears to have grown a lot on the leg, it's almost double in size in the last week or two so I suspect it it more aggressive than first thought.

I can't stop thinking about tomorrow and getting upset at the thought of him not coming back.

I've got to go on my own too

He looks so relaxed out in the garden today

I'm dreading it Wendy, he's also started sneezing tonight which I'm just hoping is something and nothing

If he did not limp you would never know there is anything wrong with him, he's always been a bit of a grumpy cat who tells you in no uncertain terms when he does not want a fuss. I put that down to many years living as a stray

God, that's really hard jo.  See what the vet suggests. If his liver is double the size I dont like his chances. Youll have to weigh all issues to make a decision.   Id go for the amputation depending on any other issues hes facing.

I know with my boris (rottie) the cancer was so bad it spread to double the size of most of his organs. I had to do the right thing by him & have him pts. It crushed me, but I knew it was the right thing to do. The pain was not going to ever ho away.

Wait, see what your vet says babe. My thoughts are with you & boris. group hug

Hope the vet can suggest something else to try . Hoping! In the pics he looks sooo happy and relaxed . But you know him best and I know you will do what you feel is best for Boris . Thinking of you Hun xx

My cat Smokey was like Boris, she'd come to you for a fuss but would certainly let you know when she's had enough, could only stroke her for few minutes before she'd jump down or claw ya, I had her from a kitten but she passed away last year

Some positive news, even though I had wound myself up for not bringing him home

Vets have said other than the cancer he is very healthy and had put 1KG on in weight since he was diagnosed. I was gobsmacked to be honest, I was so set on the fact today was the day I was in tears in the vets.

He is booked in tomorrow to have the leg amputated, the vets said as it is one large mass it should come off in one. It is risky as there are vessels that connect to the chest in that area but they still recommend this as a course of action and said that is what they would do if it was their cat.

So I will be dropping him off at 8.30 tomorrow and as I am off for the week I can oversee his recovery, although the vets said they recover quickly and he will manage very well on three legs

He is home now and is up and about already and has just eaten some chicken. I've got to keep him still for the next 48 hours as it's very risky if he knocks it at the moment. I never even thought about this so I'm waiting for my friend to bring me a dog crate to keep him still

Also pleased with the bill (especially as he is not insured), it was only £272

Yes I was pleased with the price , I imagine at my usual vets it would be over £1k. Boris is now registered at a none profit vets about 20 minutes from home, there are no consultation costs which is a saving in itself and all procedures appear to be a lot cheaper.
I should have insured him but I just forgot, I'm always so on the ball with the dogs insurance. It would probably be about a fiver a month for the cat too although I don't know if it's worth it now. If he has any ailments they may attribute it to the liver cancer for which he won't be covered

He has kicked the wound a couple of times today and also tried to scratch it and I think he has hurt himself so when I see him try and scratch I'm doing it for him.
We are back at the vets tomorrow for a check up.

He is not supposed to be jumping up onto the furniture but when I put him in the dog cage he went ballistic and I was worried he would injure himself so have left him out of it for now

Im not a cage fan, (I think that's well known.) Have you got an old sweat shirt big enough to cut off the arm to make a mini jumper for him so be cant scratch. Just
lJustlong enough to cover him. Cut a hole for his other front leg. I did thos with my old passed cat mitzy. Worked really well. Keep weather temps in mind picking a jumper to cut up.
Itching is a good sign, healing makes it itch. I'll bet the vet is happy with you both tomorrow.

Let us know how Boris is doing after his appointment.
