PostSubject: Daisy Post Op   Thu 02 Jun 2016, 7:02 pm

Today was the day of Daisy's surgery. I have been dreading this day but now it's all over and I'm so happy. The lump on her chest/shoulder area was just a fatty lump and has been removed. She also had the 2 mammary gland lumps removed. X-rays have shown no other masses anywhere and her lymph nodes are clear. I'm am so relieved.

Got back an hour ago and she's fast asleep in her crate. The dressing is to be removed tomorrow so then I'll get to see the wounds but I'm told they are small. The one on her chest isn't covered and is quite small. All done with dissolving stitches.

Dressing had to come off as it was pulling her fur. It looks like she's had the 2 actual teats removed? but the vet bill said 'mammary gland lumpectomy' which means just the lump removed. I'll be able to tell more once the swelling goes down..

She's quite bruised and swollen and might have to wear a cone of shame as she wants to lick the wounds.

The one on her shoulder is a bit bloody but otherwise, looks ok.

She still quite unhappy but did wag her tail when she went out for a pee earlier.

She's doing great. Wants to be in her crate most of the time, which is good as I don't want her jumping on/off the sofa. She's enjoying her walkies again and seems back to normal, just a bit uncomfortable. Not licking herself now either.

Still can't tell if any nipples have gone.. !

That's good that she's not jumping up. When is her check up due?

Well you would not believe the speed Daisy is recovering. I'm so please and amazed. You wouldn't even know to look at her!

Because she gets so stressed at the vets, they told me that unless I'm worried about anything, I've no need to bring her for a follow up appointment. The stitches will dissolve and she'll be fine, so, at the moment I see no need to take her next week.
