PostSubject: Enzo's training   Sun 01 Aug 2010, 12:23 am

Its been two weeks and ive taken enzo to two training lessons and im pleased to say he is doing really well! spinner smile
So far we have only been doing basic things like sit, lye, walk with me, which he is already good at but its good to keep up with the training and be shown the correct way to teach him.

Its a class of about 5 dogs and enzo is the noisiest one there!!! Whilst the lady is explaining what to do next enz is constantly whining lol, no one can hardly hear what she is saying! The trainer owns a staffy herself so she adores enzo!

Some of you might remember my post about enz being agressive towards other dogs, well luckily he hasn't done this since, although i havent been letting him say hello to other dogs for too long. But at least he is around dogs more often now at the lessons and gets to socialise for a bit.

He is doing so well, i think he has reaslised that we are in charge now and not him. The trainer has even used him as an example to show the other people how the next task should be done because he is so obediant! It makes me so proud!

Next week we have to get our dogs to lye down and stay whilst we walk away, so that is this weeks homework! Should be fun lol

The only problem i have had is that he keeps pulling to get to the other dogs to say hello, so i tug the lead back and get him to sit, but my hand is all bruised where i keep having to pull him back and he is so strong! I did have a chain lead but had to buy a material one instead because it gave me blisters the first time we went where my left hand holds onto the chain and right hand on the handle. Nightmare but hopefully it will get better with time!

Thanks for reading, just thought id give you a little update bounce

Sounds like he is doing brilliantly. You could try using a Gentle Leader or Canny Collar but if your dog does not like them I think they hinder the training as they spend most of the lesson trying to get them off.

Alternatively take a look at a Tuffstuff lead, they are lovely and soft and wont hurt your hand

woot sounds like a great start.
Must be brilliant to have a staffy lover as a trainer.

Only help I can offer with the lead bruising would be to suggest a leather glove? Might look odd but hey if it works lol!
