We just transfered him over so I got my Kay to take some quick pics. He was happy to be handled this time and even did a snake bracelet for me! Sorry the pics aren't great but we only have a quick hold as didn't want to stress him.

Kay is soooooooo happy with him.

Hello snakums! He's got lovely markings, I was expecting him to be more yellow for some reason but his orange colouring is better spinner smile

He's 6 months old. Can't wait to watch him grow. Think he's gonna be a big boy.

No, he will keep growing and grow up to 6ft but usually a little less, I think most are around 4-5ft.

They don't like being in big houses it can really freak them out so for now he is in a 18 inch by 12 inch plastic tub. Even once fully grown he will only need a 3ft viv at most.

I also knew nothing about them but have done so much research and still learning lol!

they do stay slender though unlike boas and pythons that get really huge

although i dont hold with they dont like bigger homes tbh i never but never kept mine in small tanks the babies had 2 fts the bigger ones had huge vivs
a freind of mine had corns and his big ones are in 6ft vivs the more natural the home the happier they are and also it looks nicer too as you can have great fun dressing it up with greenery logs etc my royals that according to the experts lol hate big vivs adored their 5ft by 2ft x2ft they were always out climbimg and exploring lovely to watch

i,ll look the pics out for you :))

I think it is when they are younger they dont like the big viv's. We did some research a while ago when looking at a Boa and we talked about putting him in our old Iguna holding (This is approx 6ft tall, 4ft wide and about 2ft deep) and we were told it was far too big for him at such a young age and he had to be kept in a small tank until he was fully grown and then he could go in the iguana's set up. Looking at the adult Boa in the shop though I would not have thought our set up would have been big enough.

Wow, they are great Dee. I want to have a viv stack later on. That way I can have 4 snakes. Got a perfect alcove in my front room lol!

Did you use the bulbs to heat the warm end or a heatmat as well? Also did you not use guards over the bulbs?

I will post pics later of Nimbus's little home. I have got him some fake plants too and it looks great.

Do you think you will ever have snakes again?

no i wont have them again i only gave up when my leccy bills hit 500 a quarter rofl and def cant have them now as i used to let mine out wouldnt be wise with rabbits and small animals lol my royals used to lie on the sofa with me and my boas did too :)) the carpet pythons i didnt they nasty lol

in big vivs they need the heat lights yes but i never used infra red they dont like them

i did have guards over them i had just changed the bulbs hence them not being on there in the pics lol although i have to say i had a few without and never had issues

i had heat mats on the walls plus the bulbs being so big it kept them perfect heat all round cool end mid temp and hot spot

They do look really good hun. I would never want to get rid of them but with bills like that I guess you have to think about it!

Def not a good idea now with the bunnies lol!

Also agree with what u said earlier, they don't feel at all like I imagined and what shocked me yesterday was just how strong Nimbus is when he coils. It's amazing. I can't wait to hold him again. Kay loved it too and was great with him. I'm going to let her give him his first feed next week.
